The sail-rowing catamaran ZHIGULIS is intended for sports water travel on the rivers and lakes with fresh water. Complexity of sailing campaigns – not more then 2к.с., in a rowing variant (an alloy on the mountain rivers) – to 5к.с. Especially useful this vessel will be for campaigns across Kareliya or Tuva where the rivers alternate lakes.
The catamaran is very simple on a design and can be collected by one person within an hour. Driving of a vessel does not demand any special qualification therefore it can be used in teenage clubs for sail-rowing campaigns.
One sail on a self-supporting mast provides to a vessel a speed up to 12 km/hour at winds with force up to 4 points. The vessel confidently goes against a wind, with a total load the vessel can go up to 75 degrees to a wind without additional sets, and with established additional sets – up to 55 degrees. Four oarsmen with canoy oars easily set a course up to a 10km/hour.
The design of knot of fastening of a mast allows to put mast along a vessel very quickly. The sail is dressed on a mast by a pocket, rises and falls with the help of halyard.
Bottom part of sail is free, therefore injuring of crew is not possible. Between floats the deck ("springboard") from a strong fabric from PVC covering is tense. The deck can be easily installed and uninstalled. There are apertures for water plum in a deck.
On a catamaran the floats of model 14 executed in two-layers – an external cover combined are installed: a bottom from lavsan fabrics from PVC covering, top from a polyamide fabric of Avizent; an internal two-section gondola from a thin air-tight fabric. Floats fasten to a framework by simple lacing. Driving is carried out by a steering oar that is rather effective, both at rowing, and at movement under a sail, especially at turn performance overshtag.
Additional parts in boxes are hung on stringers of a framework outside at going of a catamaran against a wind. Leeward additional parts leans against a float, at arrival on an obstacle it leans back. Additional parts independently emerges after tack change, it is easy for lifting and fixing along a float.
The catamaran framework is made from dural pipes. Places of crosswise crossings of pipes are made from stainless steel, their durability assumes vessel use on alloys up to 5 к.с.
